About 20 volunteers from Colwood, Langford, Thetis Lake, Oak Bay, Victoria, Saanich, Duncan, Eaglehurst, and even Alberta attacked the thistles and blackberries that were threatening the settling ponds in Reay Creek Park. In less than 2 hours, this industrious group had filled a large refuse bin with the results of their pulling, digging and cutting.
In less than 40 person hours, the Team had cleared about one-half of the area of the invasive weeds. Unfortunately, there wasn’t time to venture into the areas bordering on the Eaglehurst homes. Let’s hope the example set on Saturday will inspire the District staff to finish the job.
Thank you, Green Team. You were awesome!
